Seasons Thanks from the Chairman

With the season now over and survival in the BAL B Division secure, thanks go to the young squad with the edition of a few experienced seniors saw Duns FC secure their status in BAL Division B.
The turn around after the festive re-start saw Duns FC win 7 draw 1 and lose 4 of their last 12 games, also 2 cup semi finals were reached both resulting in narrow defeats, 1 against Langolm Legion who got promoted to the A Division and the other to A Division side Gordon.

Thanks to main sponsors J Aitchison (Duns)Ltd who sponsor our main stand for 3 years, Warm up jackets, team shorts and a pitch side banner. J E Douglas for Home and Away shirts and match day polo shirts.

White Swan Hotel for Hospitality and Ian Watson Financial who sponsored our Match day Tracksuits, all these sponsors have renewed for next season, for this Duns FC is eternally grateful.

Thanks also to all our local businesses for their pitch side banner sponsorship, (all the sponsors banners can be seen on our website on the sponsors page) again all this sponsorship is invaluable to the club.

Sadly the decision was taken 2 seasons past to resign from EOS League due to the lack of experienced players to compete at that level.
A rebuild programme involving local youngsters who at that time were a very successful 2000 year side (under 17’s) coached by Michael Horne formed the nucleus along with the addition of experienced players of a team that gained promotion from BAL C Division. Although it was a struggle for the first half of the season as mentioned earlier a run of great results saw the great escape achieved.

We are delighted to announce that all players have intimated that they will remain at Duns, with hopefully a few more experienced players to guide the young Dingers as they improve year on year.

A huge Thank you and appreciation goes to our management team of James Brydon and Keith Wilson who are currently working on preparation for next season and are confident of a good season. It has been a pleasure to see how the youngsters have matured under their guidance. Not only many 18 year olds, also two at sixteen.

Year 2005 (13 age group) also use our facility at NHP the decision was taken by their coach Paul Mathewson to play in the Edinburgh League and the pleasure the youngsters get playing their home games at NHP is immeasurable.

Lastly our committee who work tirelessly behind the scenes, maintaining the ground at NHP which is one of the best natural pitches in the locality, applying for funding to further enhance the facility. Work is currently underway with planning applied for the installation of changing facilities in the porta cabins sited at the east end of the ground, also the addition of another porta cabin with toilets will be in place during the coming months. Looking to the future our ambition is to install a 3g surface in the Games Hall.

All what has been achieved over the past few years and in the future is all down to our

Thank you for your continued support.
