Player Update

Duns Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Ben Jackson. Ben, pictured being welcomed to the club by manager Neil Oliver,  was courted by others but chose to join Duns FC to continue his development. Ben is aged just 15 and not 16 until January,and has been at Hibernian for the last 4 years, playing against the likes AC Milan,Man Utd and Newcastle in the process. He is a Berwick boy and plays either centre half or central midfield. and already stands at 6’ 3″ tall.

BEN  from Tweedmouth in Berwick signed a contract to join Hibernian as part of the Edinburgh club’s youth set-up in August 2009.

He joined Berwick Rangers Juniors at the age of 6 and played his first competitive game at 7 in the summer Domestic Blyss League. He then went on to represent the club in the Northumberland U9 League where in 2006-07 he was named as ‘Player of the Year’ from over 40 teams.

He continued to play through the U10s and U11s, and was part of the Berwick U11 team which won the NABC third division, gaining promotion to division two. Ben has put in a lot of work both on and off the pitch, and he deserved a lot of credit for this, as did his parents, Tony and Linda.

In September 2008 Ben was invited to the Hibernian Training Centre which he initially attended for a six week trial period, although this was later extended to a full season, leading to a contract which he signed in July 2009.

Ben played with Hibernians youth side for 4 years where he travelled with their under 13 squad in 2011 to an international tournament in Montichiari in Italy where they reached the quarter finals.

In their first group game they beat AC Milan 1-0, the only match the Serie A club lost en route to winning the competition.

They also beat AC Olympia from South Africa 4-0 before eventually losing 6-2 to Selez-Ticino of Switzerland 6-2 in the last eight, Ben scoring one of the Hibs goals.

 

 

Ben is looking forward to joining the squad for pre season and is determined to make his mark at the club.
