Pitch drainage complete

The drainage on our pitch was completed today (Monday 22nd). The clubs contractor Bill Chisholm told the official site that the extremely dry weather had made the job a “wee bit harder” The increased difficulty occurred when digging the trenches for the piping they then kept falling back into themselves due to the bone dry condition of the soil.

There are 11 drainage pipes set across the width of the pitch at a depth of 18 inches running its entire length.  There is a fall of just over 3 feet from end to end. Onto the pipes was laid a membrane then approximately 9 inches of gravel onto which the topsoil was then laid.

Drainage piping has also been laid from the stand site into the pitches main system.
