Duns undone by local rivals

Duns travelled to Chirnside to play their hosts in the Matt Simpson Memorial Trophy Final.
A poor first half performance saw the Dingers go into the break 4 0 down.

Chirnside opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a simple tap in from 2 yards from an unmarked Chirnside striker.
Chirnside added another 2 goals in a 1 minute spell again from poor clearances from the Duns defence on 24 and 25 minutes.
The game ended as a contest on the 34th minute when Chirnside added a 4th.

The second half was was a complete contrast from the first, making a few substitutions on the hour Duns pulled a goal back in the 62nd minute with a good passing movement that saw Jamie Whitehead duly dispatch the ball into the net.
Taking the game to their hosts Duns were pressing to add to their tally when in the 76th minute Chirnside scored their 5th with a shot that was deflected leaving keeper Anderson stranded.

Within a minute Ross Hutchison added a second for the Dingers again from good movement he tore through the Chirnside central defence striking the ball high to the keepers left.
Just desserts for the forward who worked tirelessly for the 90 minutes coming close on a few occasions.

Duns will be hoping to take their performance from the second half of the game into next weekends first league fixture
There was still a few of last season regulars missing so we hope that a full strength squad will be available for the 2018/19 season which kicks off on Saturday 11th with Lauder coming to New Hawthorn Park.
