Duns through to next round of Wright Cup

Duns started this cup tie with a change in strike force with youngsters Billy Short and Euan Taylor in from the kick off.

Duns dominated play creating chances and contained anything that Earlston managed to create, however they were unable to turn all the possession into goals and went into half time with a nil all draw

The second half started with Earlston taking the lead after 50 minutes very much against the run of play.
58 minutes saw The Dingers ring the changes with Short and Taylor who acquitted themselves well considering they were among the youngest on the park. Mo Ponton and seasons top scorer Ross Hutchison were their replacments

With attacking play very much to the fore, Mo Ponton scored with a well taken opportunity lobbing the ball from just inside the penalty area in 66 minutes.

Ponton continued to run at the Earlston defence creating open spaces for others to run into which produced 4 goals in a 10 minute spell that saw Duns put the tie beyond Earlstons reach.
A double from young defender Liam DeMarco on 75 and 77 minutes and a further 2 from Captain Dylan Patterson on 79 and 85 minutes.

A delight to watch this young attacking side create and score goals with some great movement and unselfish attitude giving each other the chance to score.
Other subs used were Kevin Simpson, Fraser Bunyan and Steven Kerr on for Gary Renton Kieran Swinney and Ewan Feeney.

Although in general a young side thanks must go to stalwart Mark Dixon in goal, his decisive save after Duns went ahead seemed to be the spur to produce the goal spree.

Duns play Earlston Rhymers away on Tuesday night in a Division B league game.
