Duns start with a win

Duns AFC kicked off their 2018/19 season with a 2 – 1 win at New Hawthorn Park.

Duns almost found themselves one up after Hutchison almost scored in the 1st minute his shot beat the Lauder keeper only to come back off the upright.
Duns again had the chance to take the lead in the 8th min, the visiting keeper brought off a tremendous save from Hutchison scooping the ball off the goal line and over for a corner.

Duns were in control of the game early doors and on the 11th minute Mo Ponton saw a well struck shot from 20 yards strike the cross bar.
It was all Duns in the first half with a few forays from Lauder that saw it goalless at half time.

Duns started the second half the way they finished the first there was only 10 mins gone when Ross Hutchison scored the first of a brace which saw the Dingers get their just rewards
Lauder almost equalised when their striker picked up a loose ball but could only watch as his shot from 20 yrds cannoned back of the bar.
10 mins after his first Hutchison bagged his second to put Duns 2 goals to the good.Duns were still creating without further addition to the score.

Demarco’s runs forward were causing problems for the Lauder defence and on one occasion he could have added to the tally seeing his close range effort come back off the post.
Lauder pulled a goal back on 68th min a long throw causing the Duns trouble, with the Lauder man scoring with a glancing header .
Sensing they could salvage something from the game they came at Duns but stout defending from Liam Horne and Gary Renton and the rest of the back four kept the chances to a minimum.

Although at times it was frantic for the last 20 minutes, a draw would have felt like a loss with a scoreline that belies the amount of chances The Dingers created.
A good start with 3 points. Tuesday night sees Tweedmouth Ams visit New Hawthorn Park with a kick off 6.45pm
