Duns Man of the match:
Sean Robertson

Duns kicked off their league campaign with a relatively comfortable win at home to Berwick Colts.

The away side started brightly and were unlucky on a couple of occasions not to go ahead however it remained 0-0 at the break.

Some choice words from the Duns management team at halftime seen Duns start the second half brightly and within 2 mins they were ahead through Sean Robertson who followed up a great display on Saturday with another at the heart of the Duns defence.

Soon after, Doug Brydon was also on the score sheet with a great finish from a cross into the box. Brydon should have had his second quickly after however the ref surprisingly disallowed it for something only he seemed to have seen.

It was then time for Mo ‘the magician’ Ponton to turn up with a sublime strike from all of 30 yards which cannoned off the cross bar and into the net.

It was 3-0 and Duns seemed very comfortable however against the run of play Berwick Colts pulled one back. They then began to take advantage of some lack lustre play from Duns and suddenly it was 3-2 and game on!

This wasn’t to last long tho as some fantastic work from Ross Hutchison allowed him to play in Luke Strangeways who calmly dinked the ball over the Colts keeper to seal all 3 points for Duns late on.

Duns travel to Kelso in the Quarter final of the Wright Cup on Saturday, 2pm kick off.

All the best to Berwick Colts for the rest of the season
