Duns Reserves 4-3 Coldstream Amateurs

Our second pre season friendly last week resulted in a satisfying 4-3 win over B division opponents Coldstream Amateurs, with goals from Douglas Allan, Sean Robertson, Jamie Lackenby and Steven Burns. We started the game slowly and soon found ourselves 3-1 behind midway through the first half. Despite keeping possession well in midfield and creating several chances, our defending was chaotic and we conceded 3 very poor early goals. However, once the lads settled and began to play with some belief, we pulled a goal back and finished the half the stronger team. We made a number of changes at the interval and controlled the game for most of the second half, scoring 2 early goals without reply.
Our fitness and sharpness throughout was much improved from the Chirnside game, and we created a number of decent scoring opportunities. However, there is still some work required before the start of the season to improve our defending and our passing game.
Its been encouraging to see Sean Robertson given an opportunity to feature for the first team in pre-season, and he’s responded well with 3 goals in 2 games. One of the aims of the Reserves is to develop the younger lads and hopefully prepare them for a career with the EOS team.
Our final friendly before the season starts is at home to Hawick Waverley today (Saturday)
