Duns edged out in 9 goal thriller

Duns 4 – 5 Hawick Legion

Duns were dealt a sucker punch in the final minute of a game they did not deserve to lose. A goal down in 7 minutes and play swinging from end to end the Dingers went in at half time 2.1 down to the visitors.

A second from Sean Robertson early in the second half saw Duns draw level and a Steven Burns goal had the Dingers in the lead 3.2 man of the match Andy Douglas conceded a penalty that allowed Hawick to draw level. Hawick again went in front for a short spell before James Brydon pulled Duns back into the game firing in a rebound after a Sean Robertson strike hit the post. Duns were denied two penalty claims at crucial times in the game which could have resulted in a different outcome at the end of the 90 minutes.

Duns can take a lot of positives from this game with a performance that by no means reflects on their position in the league.

Next week it is an away tie against St Boswells in the Waddell Cup.
