Duns book place in Wright Cup final

Gala Hotspur 3 Duns 5
Brydon x 2
Strangeways x 2

Duns progressed to the final of the Wright Cup with a hard fought victory away to Gala Hotspur.

Duns started the better of the two teams and deservedly took the lead through a Douglas Brydon header that glanced in off the far post.

Hotspur got back into the match with 30 minutes played having dispatched the ball from a Duns defender and Samual Bedford fired home from close range.

This seemed to shock Duns as within a matter of minutes Bedford got his and Hotspurs 2nd with a 30 yard superb strike that sailed in off the far post.

Duns got off to the worst possible start to 2nd half as within minutes of the restart Gala increased there lead when Bedford completed his hat trick with a close range shot that flew into roof off the net.

This seemed to kick start Duns into action and shortly after reduced Hotspurs advantage when Douglas Brydon headed home a Gregor Watson corner.
Duns had there tails up again and minutes later Duns drew level when Luke Strangeways riffled the ball into the far bottom corner from 15 yards out.

Duns were now well on top and with 20 minutes to go went 4-3 up. A goal mouth scramble resulted in Dez Chisholm shooting from the edge of the box and Ciaran Eillison poked the ball home from close range.

With time running out Gala went in search for a late equaliser but never really tested Joe Riach (who made £10 from the tooth fairy this week) in the Duns goal.

Time was all but up almost when Duns sealed the victory and a Wright cup final tie with Ancrum. Duns cleared a Hotspur corner, Luke Strangeways chased the kick up the field and raced from the half way line down-on goal to cooly slot the ball past the onrushing keeper with the last kick of the match.

Man of the match for Duns was Douglas Brydon.

Duns will now fave Ancrum in thr Wright Cup Final
