Club Make Donation

Duns Football Club were recently able to make a donation of £500 to the local branch of MacMillan Cancer Support following a recent 30 mile sponsored cycle run organised by the clubs committee with most of the players putting in the actual miles on the bikes.

The Club have no guaranteed source of income and it’s only through their weekly lottery draw combined with generous annual sponsorship from local businesses plus organising fundraising events such as this that enable the club to function. On this occasion by including Macmillan Cancer Support they were able to both raise the profile of their event and give a substantial donation to this worthwhile cause – all of which will be utilised for various function at the Borders General Hospital.

Club Chairman Colin Pike said; Community engagement is something we take seriously at the club and in teaming up with Macmillan Cancer Support it goes to show that when an opportunity arises to help others we are more than happy to do so. It gave the local public the opportunity to not only back their local football club but also support a hugely worthwhile charity that do so much good within the community.

Both Duns Football Club and Macmillan Cancer Support would like to thank everyone who sponsored them and also Giacopazzies in Eyemouth for their complimentary ice cream en route.
