Chairmans New Year Message

What has been achieved at Duns Football Club has been nothing short of miraculous to get us to where we are now.

The pitch (work ongoing) perimeter fence hard standing areas fifty adverting boards pitch perimeter fence disabled area tea hut porta cabins sited and made safe dug outs sited flag pole both dressing rooms upgraded brand new referees room committee room main corridor freshened up electrical supply work all done funding for the professional teams work on the games hall project has been sourced and right up to date our brand new gates, and newly concreted entrance to the players gate all in place.

This has been achieved by a committee working together with the attitude of, nothing can not be done, it may just taken a little longer to work out how to actually do it.

Looking ahead into 2015 our big “games hall project” moves on. The professional team headed up by Dave McKnight have all but finished their work. Some time ago I prepared the supporting information highlighted by Jean from SBC, only a small amount of work remains before we are able to submit a serious funding application to SportScotland. Our covered accommodation remains a challenge with two options on the table for discussion and consideration. I shall be submitting a grant application to the Fallago wind farm for consideration at their March meeting. Detailed supporting formation has been sourced which should strengthen our application. The alternative to this is to consider a lower end alternative which hopefully would cost much less whilst still ticking the appropriate box but not in any way effecting our bigger plan in that regard. Last reasonably big project is the porta cabins. I shall be making an early application to SBC for the appropriate permissions to allow us to press on with work on this. We have to date firstly a kitchen courtesy of Andrews generosity which can be used and secondly again generously from Carl enough floor covering for the entire area.

I would like to place on record my thanks to my colleagues on our clubs committee. Duns Football Club is very lucky to have such a hard working dedicated group of people steering it forward and with this collective attitude anything can be achieved.

I would also like to personally thank all our sponsors who have so generously backed us this season. On my last visit to the ground I stood and counted the advertising boards and came to the magnificent total of exactly 50 displayed around the ground.

Also a thank you to all who have attended games at New Hawthorn Park. As always we are striving to make your match day experience as enjoyable as possible.

A really happy healthy and hugely prosperous 2015 to you all and Duns Football Club.

Colin
