3 pts on their travels for Duns

Duns started the game the better of the 2 teams but after dominating much of the first half hour of play Duns still found themselves a goal down.
Earlston’s striker was brought down in the box which left the referee no choice but to award a penalty. A penalty that was slotted low past the keeper to edge the home side in front.

Duns continued to press and force the game into the oppositions half and the got their rewards when Ponton picked up a loose ball 20 yards out and unleashed a fierce left foot shot across the the keeper giving him no time to react.

Ponton went from scorer to provider 10 mins into the second half. Finding space on the left he sent in a perfect cross finding Robertson, who out muscled the defender in the air to nod the ball over the keeper. There was surprise on the bench as Robertson, not known for scoring with his head, scored only his fourth ever header.

10 mins later Duns added their 3rd of the game when Feeney this time found himself with space down the left. His low fired cross finding Hutchison, who got himself in front of the defender to guide the ball up into the roof of the net and extend Duns’ lead.

The game was put even further out of reach of the home side with 10 minutes to go when 2 of the subs combined to seal the 3 pts for Duns. Lackenby’s cross from the left was met by Burns who headed down past the keeper.

Earlston did manage to add another goal to their tally in the dying minutes with what turned out to be the last meaningful action of the game. A mix up at the back left the Earlston striker with only the keeper to beat sliding the ball into the net to reduce the deficit to 2 goals.

Duns continue their push for points and survival on Thursday night when they head to Lauder for their last away game of the league season.
