2 points dropped for Duns!

Duns seen a very comfortable 2 nil lead slip away from them in the closing minutes on Saturday away to Kelso Thistle.

The game started with some wild wintry weather with the away side starting well despite the driving sleet and strong wind.

Duns dictated the midfield and soon created numerous chances with the best of the chance hitting the woodwork as Ross Hutchison seen his header cannon off the post.

The Duns pressure finally paid off with Captain Sean Robertson breaking the deadlock, he beat 2 defenders in the air to score with his head, unusual for Robertson whose not well known for his headed goals.
Duns then went 2 up with Sean Spoor’s 20 yards effort, Robertson laid the ball off to Spoor who fired the ball past the keeper into the corner of the net.

Half time ended 2-0 to Duns which on another day could and should have been a lot more.

The second half brought a change in weather with the wind and rain disappearing replaced with the sunshine, and Duns started off quite similar to the first half knocking the ball about well.

Kelso struggled to stamp any authority on the game with Duns keeper Riach rarely tested.

Duns made four changes to see out the afternoon but to Kelso’s credit they began to compete late on coupled with a lot of complacency from Duns. Against the run of play Kelso managed to grab a goal back with a good ball into the back post from a set piece being met by the big centre half.

With 2 minutes remaining Kelso and Duns slightly under the cosh Kelso were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area. It was struck low under the wall, catching Riach off guard, into the bottom of the net.
A result that simply looked impossible with 20 minutes remaining however credit to Kelso for their never say die attitude. Certainly a learning curve for the dingers.

Duns travel through to play Langlee on Saturday with a 2pm Kick off in the Semi Final of the Walls Cup.
